Rochon was raised in Torrance. Rochon was born to Zelma Staples (a nurse practitioner) and Samuel Staples (a businessman and graphic artist). Rochon is a 1982 graduate of Cerritos High School, located in Cerritos, California. In 1986 she earned her degree with honors from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) in which she received a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. Ullerup played Julia Brynn for the first time in Battlestar Galactica: The Remake in 2006 on the Sci Fi Channel. Ullerup played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary television series in its first and second seasons until it was canceled. Many fans wanted her back even though the show was ended. Ullerup starred as Bree O'Brien on Chesapeake Shores in 2016. Ullerup was played by Maggie Thomas, Michael Thomas' estranged spouse, for Asteroid: Final Impact (2005). Since the year 2016 Ullerup has been playing a regular character as Dale Travers in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films series.
